Patterns: Summer Heat, Qi Deficiency, Yin Deficiency |
Indications: Qi and yin injury from Summer Heat leading to heavy sweating. Fatigue, short of breath, heavy sweating, dry throat, thirst, red tongue with little coating, weak rapid pulse. Chronic cough with LU deficiency consuming Qi and Yin, dry throat and mouth, fatigue, short of breath, non-productive cough or with little phlegm, cough with sweating, weak thin pulse. For heaving exertion like climbing a high mountain, Ren Shen should still be used.

Commentary: Often used as a summertime daily beverage. Nowadays, this formula is used in IVs in the hospitals for emergency use in China. For Summer Heat issues, it would be more appropriate to substitute Ren Shen with Xi Yang Shen because it's cooling. |
