Location |
Located in the infraorbital foramen • Start with edge of orbital bone, palpate down to the edge of the infraorbital foramen • 0.3 cun below the edge • 1 cun below the pupil. It’s possible that it’s not right below ST-02 for some people. |
Needling |
Type: Transverse Depth: 0.2 to 0.4 cun, 0.3 to 0.5 cun |
Description: Perpendicular insertion 0.2 to 0.4 cun • Transverse insertion to join with such points as SI-18, LI-20 etc • Oblique insertion, 0.3 to 0.5 cun, superolaterally along the infraorbital foramen • Avoid excessive needling manipulation • Not commonly used. Very important to needle right on top of the foramen and only perpendicularly, do not go toward eyeball. It’s possible that it’s not right below ST-02 for some people. |
Caution: Deeper insertion may injure eyeball • Do not lift/thrust - can damage infraorbital nerve • Contraindicated for Moxibustion |
