Description
Name Variations: Gan Mai Da Zao Tang, 甘麦大枣汤, Licorice, Wheat, and Jujube Decoction,
Herb List: Xiao Mai(K, 9-15g) • Gan Cao(M, 9g) • Da Zao(A, 10p); Fu Xiao Mai often substitute for Xiao Mai.
Commentary: Fu Xiao Mai is a substitution for Xiao Mai. Xiao Mai is wheat, the fully developed wheat grain. It nourishes Heart and calm Shen. Fu Xiao Mai is the "floating" shriveled immature grains. They are called "floating" wheat because when you put them in water, the hollow, unripe grains float to the top while the heavy, mature ones sink. It's primary action is to stop sweating. This formula contains gluten because of Xiao Mai.
